Full description
In 1948 Ukrainian refugees came to Mylor Bridge in Cornwall as volunteer agricultural workers. They were housed in a barracks that had at one time housed prisoners of war. Here, after work, they built a chapel and erected a memorial cross as an act of thanksgiving.
June 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the erection of this cross and there will be a celebration service by way of commemoration. Two of the Ukrainian workers who erected the cross are still alive and live in the UK.
